Enchanté

This wood is Delphic and tangled
It interweaves at impossible angles
Enchanted hymns bewitching her soul
By inhabitants ancient and old

They're watching and waiting
They're biding their time
In this house of leaves, she is confined
Idly grieving her view of the sky

Wisteria blocks out the sun
Until shadows drench everyone
Oh, mother nature, what's to be done

She's nothing more than energy
Drifting through the galaxy
Tending to the greenery
And how it grows so splendidly

She's already down, deep in the dirt
Sown in the ground like a seed in the earth
They gather around, a wreath of Fae
They circle like animals hunt their prey

They're enchanting her with promises they can't keep
Lulling her into slumber with the words they speak

In twilight she'll slumber
In beds of branches, bones and umber
Their eyes cavort in the dark unnumbered
Like stars in the night, ungoverned and frozen in time
