These Are the Eyes

These are the eyes
These are the eyes of my eyes
And they look out
Not from my face but my gut
And when my shirt lift up
I can at last see your form

There is a weight inside of me
Rising up now, up from my guts
And up and away
Out from my chest
And through my shirt
The thing can speak
And this is what it says

"Nature forgave but I cannot forget"

These are the eyes, these are the eyes of my eyes
They see your hand under my head as I lie
All of the light that once was yellow is grey
My blood can sing, it will shout "Up and away"
