Good evening, ladies and gentlemen
The warm and close relationship between a songwriter and a singer is traditional
It has never been better evidenced than the presence here tonight
Of several great ASCAP composers
To join in the tribute to a shining star, Barbra Streisand
Now, each one of them has something to say
And may I introduce them to you
George Bernard Shaw once said that, "Hell was filled with musical amateurs"
That remark alone assures Harold Arlen a place in Heaven
