It was my favorite day
Before the movie show
Until the fight broke out
In front of floral scenes
Faces got all bent up
"Beat him real good", she called
I saw a distant girl
Point at a hummingbird

I felt the burning sun
How does it last so long?
Out in the Pisgah trees
There's a discarded song
Left for my open ear
Left by the passer-by
Who had imagined I
